Foundation Donates To Parents, Students Of Education District III

As a way of aligning with the State government on the modified Home Grown School Feeding Programme for Primary School Pupils and their Parents, the Joshua Okeowo Foundation has donated 1,000 packs of boxed-food items to parents and students under the Lagos State Education District III.

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District III, Dr. Olufolayimika Ayandele, who received the first batch of the 200 packs of the donated items on behalf of the Parents and Students commended the donors, saying that it comes at a time many homes could barely feed their wards.

While revealing that the donor has promised to present the remaining packs in weekly batches, Ayandele stressed that the gesture would go a long way in relieving the parents of the financial burden of feeding the students while at home.

In her words: “The items donated by the Foundation will not only help alleviate the living conditions of the beneficiaries but also support their parents in the area of feeding and create the consciousness of brotherliness and kind disposition in the mind of the students”.

Dr. Ayandele hoped for more laudable partnerships with the Foundation and called on other well-meaning individuals, private sector business owners and Non-Governmental Organisation to emulate the kind gesture of the Foundation.

She commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for also identifying with the school children through different interventions since the closure of schools, stressing that the address from the Governor on the Children’s Day was very reassuring and motivating.

Earlier, the Lead Consultant of Joshua Okeowo Foundation, Dr. Lara Oyadotun, said that the gesture was extended to the students and parents in order to support government efforts in alleviating the hardships occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic across the State.

She disclosed that the Foundation has decided that in the next five weeks, it will give students of the District, 1000 Cartons of the packed food items as a way of celebrating Children’s Day.

According to her “Realising the importance of good nutrition in the life of children, particularly in their educational pursuits and also in support of government’s efforts on the school-based feeding initiative, we decided to do food charity which is the main action point of Joshua Okeowo Foundation”.

“These are challenging times with parents not necessarily having enough meals to take care of their children and the reason for choosing Education District III is because it’s within our jurisdiction since the Foundation’s office is located in Banana Island”, she added

She also revealed plans by the Foundation, through its Health Mission Outreach, to collaborate with the State Ministries of Health and Education in no distant future on how school pupils can take care of their eyes, body and ears among others.
