EKOTELEMED: LASHMA Begins Campaign To Sensitises Lagos Residents

The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has commenced a sensitisation campaign across the State as part of efforts to educate and enlighten residents on the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS) and how enrollees can have access to adequate healthcare via EKOTELEMED. Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of the event on Monday at Ikeja, the General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, stated that the tour would further enable the Agency to properly inform, educate and enlighten Lagos State residents on the need to enrol on the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS). Dr. Zamba said that any resident who enrols on the Scheme also has the opportunity to access care through EKOTELEMED via audio or video calls from the comfort of their homes, disclosing that enrollees can gain access to highly trained and experienced medical doctors 24/7 in any of the four main Nigerian languages - English, Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo.

According to her, “With EKOTELEMED, there is a guarantee of immediate, easy, accessible and affordable healthcare to Lagos residents as they are free to speak to medical personnel from wherever they are via a toll free line 08000-EKOMED (08000356633)”. “The sensitisation campaign across the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas is expected to bring information closer to Lagos residents, especially those at the grassroots and stimulate their interest in enrolling on the Lagos State Health Scheme”, she added. Commending Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for graciously approving the EKOTELEMED platform for LSHS enrollees, Dr. Zamba said that the gesture has further demonstrated the present administration’s commitment to providing accessible and affordable healthcare to the residents of the State.

She, therefore, appealed to all residents in the State who are yet to enrol on the Scheme to do so immediately in order to enjoy the benefits and opportunities inherent in the Scheme for subscribers. Also speaking at the programme, the Business Development Manager, Health Connect 24/7, Mrs. Julian Michaels, applauded the Lagos State Government for the good gesture, saying that the Health Connect 24/7 would continue to partner with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) to ensure that Lagos residents are provided with good and quality healthcare services through EKOTELEMED. She said that after consultation with patients, EKOTELEMED also monitor patients to see whether they are responding to prescribed treatment. Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had launched EKOTELEMED a few months ago to deliver remote non-COVID-19 care to residents in the State in order to protect the citizens, including medical personnel, from contracting the Coronavirus disease.
