Children's Day: Education District Celebrates Outstanding Scholars

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District 1, Barrister Margaret Titilayo Solarin has presented gift items to some outstanding students who have distinguished themselves and excelled in both academics and curricular activities in the District.

Barrister Solarin, in the company of School Principals and Administrators, seized the opportunity of the Children’s Day to honour about 30 students who had excelled in sporting activities, debate and drama, as well as those that made the State proud at the year 2020 Maltina School Games.

Speaking during the presentation, Solarin disclosed that the initiative was intended to spur other students to make their parents, schools and Lagos State proud by achieving outstanding feats aim for excellence in their performances.

While acknowledging that the gesture may not equate the efforts and dedication of the students, she emphasised that the District deliberately decided to appreciate the scholars on Children’s Day to show them as shining examples worthy of emulation by other students.

Solarin expressed her appreciation to the beneficiaries for their performance in academic and sports, admonishing them to continue to study and work harder by exploiting the opportunities provided by the State government in the area of online teaching via television and radio.

She gave an assurance that the reward system put in place by the government will always recognise and appreciate exceptional performance in various ways, including scholarship awards.

The TG/PS also expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for providing an enabling environment and the wherewithal for continuous improvement and educational development in the State.

“Let me also appreciate all the parents and stakeholders in the education sector for their lofty contributions and efforts in getting the best out of the students. I will advise you to continue to unleash the potentials of students under your watch for the betterment of the State and Nation”, the Tutor-General stated.
